Day 1 : Fes to Merzouga via Middle Atlas Mountains

Fes → Ifran → Azrou → Middle Atlas → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

Your 3-day Fes to Marrakech Desert Tour begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel or riad in Fes. Departing at 07:00 AM in winter or 08:00 AM in summer, your English-speaking driver/guide will take you south through the breathtaking Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, pass through Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” and continue to Azrou, where you can spot Barbary apes in the lush cedar forests.

After a scenic drive, stop for lunch in Midelt at your convenience, a town nestled between the Atlas peaks. From there, journey through the stunning Ziz Valley, with its endless date palm groves and ancient Kasbahs, before reaching Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops. By late afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, where we will welcome you in a dedicated meeting point our auberge or another hotel depends on the accommodation booked for your overnight, you will have a brief rest from the ride.

Transfer to the camp options:

  • Camel Trek: Choose between a 1-hour camel trek with a 4WD transfer to camp or a full 2-hour camel trek through the dunes. Meaning, if you get tired you can just tell the camel guide to call us and we will come to pick you up my 4WD.
  • 4WD Experience: For those who prefer not to ride camels, we offer a 4WD transfers to camp.

All options include a stop in the middle of the golden dunes to enjoy the tranquility and the sound of silence while witnessing the sunset and capture photos before you continue to the camp.

Upon arrival at your Sahara desert camp, freshen up before indulging in a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars. Afterwards, enjoy your time at leisure stargazing or join the staff on the rhythmic sounds of Berber drum music around the campfire.

Day 2 : Merzouga to Dades Valley via Todgha Gorges

Merzouga → Rissani → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

Wake up early for an optional sunrise camel ride before breakfast. Then, transfer back to Merzouga town by 4WD. If you’re seeking extra adrenaline, you can opt for a quad bike or dune buggy transfer.

Leaving the desert behind, your journey continues through the Rissani region, where you can explore the town’s famous authentic souk, known for its lively trade of dates, spices, and handcrafted goods.

The next highlight is the Todra Gorge, a stunning canyon with towering red rock walls reaching up to 300 meters (984 feet). Here, you’ll have time to explore the gorge, take photos, or even enjoy a short hike along the river.

Continuing through the dramatic landscapes, you’ll enter the Dades Valley, known for its unique rock formations and the famous Monkey Fingers cliffs. As the sun sets, you’ll check into a traditional riad or hotel, where you’ll enjoy dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.

Day 3 : Dades Valley to Marrakech

After breakfast, on the last day of your 3 day Fes to Marrakech Desert tour, the journey continues through the Rose Valley, famous for its fragrant rose fields and the annual Rose Festival. You’ll pass through the picturesque Skoura Oasis, home to lush palm groves and beautifully preserved kasbahs.

The next major stop is Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Hollywood of Morocco.” Here, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and filming location for movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
