Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Ait Ben Haddou → Ouarzazate → Dades Valley
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Marrakech. You’ll travel across the High Atlas Mountains, passing through the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260m), which offers breathtaking panoramic views. Along the way, stop at a Berber village to admire traditional mud-brick houses and enjoy a cup of Moroccan mint tea.
Continue towards Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient fortified village and a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its appearance in movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Take your time exploring the Kasbah’s narrow alleys and historic structures before heading to Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Desert.” , Depending on your schedule and regular stops you will visit the famous Atlas Film Studios and the Kasbah Taourirt before stopping for lunch.
In the afternoon, travel through Skoura Oasis and the Valley of Roses, known for its fragrant rose fields. Your journey then continues to the Dades Valley, where you’ll admire the unique rock formations of the Monkey Fingers Gorgebefore settling into a traditional riad or hotel for the night.

After breakfast, drive through the Dades Valley, following the winding road known as the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs.” Your first stop will be at Todra Gorge, a dramatic canyon with towering cliffs that rise up to 300 meters. You’ll have time to walk through the gorge and enjoy the cool atmosphere of this natural wonder.
Leaving the mountains behind, continue towards Erfoud, famous for its fossil workshops and date markets. As you approach Merzouga, the landscape shifts to vast desert plains and towering sand dunes. Upon arrival, you’ll be welcomed at a traditional riad, where you can relax and prepare for your desert adventure.
Later, embark on a sunset camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes. For those who prefer, a 4WD transfer can be arranged instead of the camel ride. Midway through the trek, pause atop the dunes to capture stunning sunset photos before continuing to your luxury desert camp.
At the camp, freshen up before enjoying a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars. The night comes alive with Berber drumming and storytelling around the campfire. For stargazers, the desert sky offers an unmatched celestial display.
